Bakersfield is located in Kern County, California, in the southern central San Joaquin Valley, halfway between Los Angeles and Fresno. Bakersfield is the state's third largest inland city, after Fresno and Sacramento, with a population over 330,000.

Bakersfield's proximity to the Sequoia National Forest offers residents many outdoor activities such as whitewater rafting in the Kern River.
